What I Wore: Vest 2.0

You may remember a few weeks ago I blogged about the vest trend for summer. And in said post I said I wasn't sure I could pull off the sleeveless look at work....well, I lied. I wasn't feeling my plain sheath dress and thought why not add my black Zara vest (similar here, here and here).

I liked it so much I did it again a few days later.

What does this teach us...don't be afraid to try new things. You never know what might work.

What I Wore to Work: Dressed in a Vest

Anna of  See (Anna) Jane recently inspired me with this instagram post to shop my own closet and break out my summer-friendly vests.

While I'm not sure I could pull off the sleeveless look at work, I'm on a mission to wear the black Zara vest I have like hers and my sleeveless trench. While I know I've worn it since, the last time this baby made an appearance on the blog was back in 2012!

For my commute to work I paired it with some Nike kicks (I might have to revive this look for the weekend)...

Changing to the Halogen Clarette Wedges for something more work appropriate. Here are some options if you're looking to invest in a vest for your own wardrobe.

The Same, But Different

I wore this Zara vest on repeat this winter...It's probably one of my most favorite pieces ever.

While it flew out of the stores, there's some hope if you weren't able to snap one up. I came across this blanket wrap from ASOS the other day. While it's not quite the same, it's pretty close.

This might be the only positive about another winter on the horizon.

What I Wore: Vest Obsessed

You may remember this vest I bought last January...It was a winter staple. I'm so glad fall is here so it can make its seasonal debut.

When you find a good thing, you stick with it, right? The perfect fitting pair of jeans - buy two or three pairs. That's kind of how I feel about long vests these days - and Zara has heeded the call. I can't decide if I love my grey one or this camel shawl collar vest, or waistcoat as they call it, more. One feels very Philip Lim, and the other Max Mara - which is code for not going wrong either way.

And on my recent trip to Paris (post here) I picked up a few things at Zara (which I'll try to share on the blog in the coming days) because it's actually cheaper there than in the states! Trust me, I did the math. One of those things was this double pocket vest. While this isn't a 10 on execution when it comes to the outfit, I'm pretty sure I can do better, and I'll definitely be trying in the coming winter months.

Who will be investing in a vest this season?

What I Wore

I haven't done a "What I Wore" post in a while. Between the cold weather, a small spending moratorium, and an overall dislike for my wardrobe, I just haven't been inspired. But...a sale online at Zara brought this long wool vest to me. I'm OBSESSED. It felt very Phillip Lim and can be dressed up or casual. I've already worn it three times!

Unfortunately I'm absolutely no help if you want the same look - the vest is sold out and I can't seem to find anything like it that is the least bit reasonable. Since I can't help you, how about you help me - what kind of "What I Wore" posts do you want to see, if any?

In"vested" in Winter

I love a good vest (or several, if you inventoried my closet). They're great layering pieces, and they keep your core warm (fashionable and functional!) You might remember this vest that I found on our honeymoon last year at H & M in Hong Kong and wore throughout the fall.

Or this one from our favorite consignment store, Consign Design

Getting to my inspiration for this post...I was perusing Target.com and came across the most adorable vests that were too good not to share! And at the bargain price of $34.99 you really can't go wrong!

What I Wore

As you know from my previous blog post I decided on the army green wedge booties from Sole Society. Here's how I wore them for the first time. The sun came out, and the Mini Fashionista and I went downtown to meet a friend for lunch.

I paired them with my very dark wash J Brand Jeans, a J Crew gingham shirt and my Barbour vest.

What to wear them with next?

And just a reminder, you have until the end of the month to save 10% at Serena Italian Imports using the code "fallcardicouture"!

What I Wore - Feeling Fall

I've been waiting for cold weather to break out the Navajo print vest I got at H & M on the steamiest, hottest day on our honeymoon in Hong Kong. I knew it would be a great addition to my Fall and Winter wardrobe. It felt very Ralph Lauren to me. I paired it with an Old Navy chambray shirt (similar), Paige skinny jeans (similar), Cole Haan riding boots (similar), a Zara woven belt, and two Angela Caputi Bracelets. You'll definitely see some version of this again.

While I haven't seen the vest in the states, here are a few alternatives you can get online now!

Timber...

As you know, mixing "utility" pieces with chic and sophisticated ones is right on trend, as Katie shared last week, and as Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific demonstrates FLAWLESSLY.

If you want to achieve this look, there's no better place to go than Timberland. They offer functional and chic pieces that can easily be mixed with the most preppy, chic and sophisticated items in your closet! Happy shopping!

Cardi Wednesday

All of these are labeled as cardigans. So here is my question, sleeveless cardigan, or vest, or both?
