Tropical Summer

There is no better way to end the week than with Viviana Volpicella, one of my style icons. In this quick video, Viviana styles her "Tropical Summer" using whatever she can find from YOOX.

Her Stella McCartney top is no longer available (as if it was even in my budget), but I did find this Donna Morgan Poplin Shift Dress that has the same "look" and is only $138.

I hope you all have a "Tropical Summer" kind of weekend!

Ciao Bellas!

Let's Celebrate

C&C has reason to celebrate because Today is the blog's 5th anniversary! WOW! Can you believe it? Here was the first post I ever wrote on C&C...May 1st, 2009.

I begin every day (latte in hand) by checking my favorite blogs and websites dedicated to fashion and design. More often than not, I forward photos and stories on to my fashion savvy friends.e
So, after some persuasion from a fellow blogger (thanks CYT Meredith), I've decided to start my own blog. Deciding on a name was a difficult task, but after some thought I came up with Cardigans and Couture, two things I frequently lust after. . .and only one of which I ever indulge in. Those of you who know me well know that I am the queen of deals; I find them everywhere...Target, e-bay, Marshall's, Gilt Group, and countless others. I am quite proud of my discount shopping prowess and am always happy to share my fabulous finds. My blog will be dedicated to all things fabulous, both those that I can and cannot afford.
And so it begins...

Needless to say, the blog has evolved over the last five years. I still love a good bargain, which we share through posts like Splurge vs. Save. We love to give you rundowns on all the Red Carpet hits and misses, and occasionally we share a summary of our favorite shows from Fashion Week. Those things are the same, while others have changed. In the beginning, every Wednesday was "Cardigan Wednesday" on the blog, and we haven't done that series in years. Here was the first ever Cardigan Wednesday Post.

I used to post regularly on Viviana Volpicella (one of my style icons), and we haven't featured her in a while.

I better get on that because she is still one of my style idols. Here is one of my favorite posts on her "Street Style." It's worth looking at! And, we all have Viviana to thank because she is the reason we found Angela Caputi bracelets. Here is the first post we ever wrote on them. Hard to believe it was over three years ago!

The biggest change to the blog in the last five years was the addition of Katie as a contributor! She has most definitely changed the blog for the better: building our social media presence, contributing great content and sharing her fabulous attire in her "What I Wore Posts", among many other things.

So, what do the next 5 years hold for C&C? That is something only time shall tell. I can promise that both Katie and I will continue to provide you with original content that is real and accessible through posts like Keeping it Real, C&C in the Kitchen, Splurge vs. Save, and What I Wore.

While C&C is a small blog, we have a large number of loyal followers who we appreciate greatly! So thank you for reading. Thank you for allowing us to share our lives and our interests with you.

We would love to hear any nostalgic thoughts you have on the blog...your favorite posts, your favorite C&C inspired purchases....whatever moves you. We don't often get blog feedback or "comments", so give us a little annivesary gift and tell us what you've enjoyed most about C&C over the last five years.

xoxo,
Regan and Katie

What I Wore

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Viviana Volpicella. I have followed her for years and have shared many of her fabulous outfits with you here on C&C.

I am not sure what year this photo was taken, but it's old, and I have loved this top for years. The sleeves are so cool. The look is polished yet effortless.

I have a similar top from DVF, so I thought why not channel my inner VV and style an outfit with her as my inspiration. I happened to be at barre3, so it was the perfect place to get a quick shot!

DVF top from Consign Design, Merona Shorts from Target (last week's splurge vs. save), Wedge shoes (blogged about them here) and Angela Caputi Bracelet

Viviana Volpicella: On Menswear

Last week, one of my favorite bloggers/photographers, Elena Braghiere of Catching Instants, had her photo of my fashion fave, Viviana Volpicella, featured on the "The Tory Blog".

Check out the post to read the Q&A with VV on Meanswear!

P.S. Have I mentioned how obsessed I am with her style?

Fashion Icon Anna Dello Russo

If you aren't familiar with Anna Dello Russo, editor at large for Vogue Japan, she is truly a style icon. Often spotted with one of C & C's favorites Viviana Volpicella, she truly knows how to pull off any look. It is rumored that she owns over 4,000 pairs of shoes. Oh to be ADR. And can you believe she is 50 years old?

And...on October 4, the Anna Dello Russo at H & M collection will be available in stores! Check out her new music video that teaches you everything you need to know about fashion. In the words of fellow blogger Sheryll from The Poe Log, "while highly embarrassing, she's chic as shit and can do whatever she wants." My thoughts exactly.

Viviana Volpicella Street Style

One of my favorite fashion icons is Viviana Volpicella. I've blogged about her countless times and honestly can't get enough of her street style. She knows how to mix prints, colors and textures as well as anyone. I often look to her for inspiration as I style my own outfits. I will never come close to being as fabulous, but I can certainly try. Here are some recent (and some not so recent) photos I pulled from the VV Facebook Page.

P.S. She sure has a chic group of girlfriends!

And, a little "fashion flashback", here is one of my most favorite VV looks ever! The dress, the shoes....I'm dying a slow, fashionable death! Oh, and Anna dello Russo doesn't look terrible either.

Street Style Viviana Volpicella

It's been a while since I've blogged about one of my favorite fashion icons, Viviana Volpicella. When it comes to street style, no one does it better.

This dress is pretty much the most fantastic thing I have ever seen! And I love it with the striped clutch!

The dress and shoes are amazing!

And of course I have VV to thank for introducing us to the Angela Caputi Chain Link Bracelets. Don't forget you can receive 10% off using promo code CCSPRING at Serena Italian Imports through the end of May.

Street Style

I have been a loyal follower of Elena Braghieri and her blog Catching Instants for a while now. She is a talented photographer in Milan and frequently captures my fashion favorite, Viviana Volpicella! Here are a few photos that Elena took at a recent shoot for a limited edition Dolce & Gabbana bike.

If this isn't Street Style at its finest, I don't know what is!

Oh Viviana, in my next life I would like to come back with your wardrobe. And more importantly, as an Italian!

We are heading to Italy next winter, but won't be in Milan. Someday I dream of meeting Elena and having a run-in with VV!

Friday Gift Guide - Angela Caputi Bracelets

This week's gift guide is for any stylish woman in your life - sisters, mothers, aunts, best friends...I don't know a girl who wouldn't love these! Angela Caputi's chain link bracelets are, hands down, my favorite accessory...after all, I do have six. I first saw them on Viviana Volpicella, assistant fashion editor, Vogue Nippon, and her incredibly fashionable friends, and was instantly in love. And determined to track them down.

Worn in twos or threes if you are into the army party, like me, or alone, they are the perfect addition to any outfit, work or play, for all ages. Rarely does a day go by that I don't have some combination of these bracelets on.

And now for the best part. Serena Italian Imports (the only place other than Italy that you can find these gems) is offering C & C's readers 10% off your total purchase until December 18 (enter CardiCouture at checkout). The owner just got back from a trip over the Atlantic and has some amazing new colors, including forest green and prugna (a beautiful dark purple). Some of my favorite color combinations are prugna/forest green, amber/ochre (what I'm wearing above), and black/bright red if you love bold colors. Lucite is also a great addition to any combination, as it picks up the colors of whatever else you're wearing. And turquoise is my favorite to wear alone in the summertime for a simple pop of color.

Make sure to like Serena Italian Imports on Facebook for updates on new shipments and colors. And leave a comment below to thank them for this awesome reader deal!

Happy shopping!

Bangle, Bangle, Bangle!

For the last few seasons, bangles have been HUGE! From wooden bangles on the runway, to gold and silver ones on our favorite celebrities. The mantra seems to be the more the merrier. I had (okay still recovering from...) a small obsession with enamel bangles and have now moved on to a collection of bracelets that I switch up depending on what I'm wearing (although my Hermes enamel enamel that I got for V-Day will be a life-long love).

I thought I'd share a picture of how I'm bangling (I think it deserves its own verb) this season below. As you may have read in a previous post, after seeing Viviana Volpicella, assistant fashion editor, Vogue Nippon, wearing two resin Angela Caputi Chain Link Bracelets, I went on the hunt for these fabulously large links...and after hunting far and wide, two of them, in amber and ochre, are now my right wrist signature staple for spring and summer. On my left, along with my gold Michael Kors Watch, I have a stack that hails from H&M, my grandmother, and two Bacca Shanghai gemstone bangles. What are you stacking for spring?

A fashionable Link

In this photo, Viviana Volpicella is wearing the most amazing resin chain link bracelets from Angela Caputi! I love how she layered two of the bracelets, so chic! If you want to replicate this look, you can get these amazing bracelets (in a variety of colors) for $65 at Serena Imports. Thanks to my fashionable twin sister for the tip on where to find these little treasures!

You Asked For It

One of my loyal followers inquired about the designer of Vivianna Volpicella's dress in this photo. While I didn't quite find the actual dress, I did find this BB Dakota Sheldon Dress that is very similar and a reasonable $90.

Mix and Match

Viviana Volpicella shows that feminine and masculine pieces can be mixed to make a fabulous outfit. I especially LOVE the dress!
