What I Wore

During our recent trip to Sun Valley, I picked up this amazing Rebecca Taylor silk ruffle dress at Consign Design. We returned to SV over the weekend to meet Mini Fashionista II, and some family friends hosted a "sip n' see". It offered the perfect opportunity to wear my new dress.

I paired it with my Target Wedges (post here). It's hard to believe they are 4 years old. And for my birthday (it's this week), Katie gave me the Smith Sidney sunglasses I was coveting (post here)...Thanks Sister.

This post is a good example how you can mix and match expensive and inexpensive. Rebecca Taylor dress + target shoes. A match made!

And cheers to AS (a loyal friend and reader) for taking the photos! She experienced her first trip to SV over the weekend, and I think she's hooked. Of course we had to take her to Consign Design... #svlifeisthebestlife

Splurge vs. Save

We've had fantastic weather here in Portland this week, so I've had shorts on my mind! This Splurge vs. Save is for everyone who needs to update their collection of summer shorts.

Who doesn't love J Crew? They offer 3", 4" and 5" chinos. These are the 5" shorts (see below). What I don't love is the $45 price tag. Although, they are having a big sale right now, so you can get them for less.

Despite the sale, I won't be stocking up on J Crew chinos this summer because I already got myself three pairs of these Merona 5" Chino shorts (white, grey and khaki).

Why pay $45 when I can pay $18 (or $12 online...they are on sale right now). They come in eight fabulous colors! I am seriously considering ordering the pink and blue too. These shorts are so versatile, comfortable and the price couldn't be any better. Get yourself to Target and stock up!

Splurge vs. Save

The seahorse print is a theme throughout many pieces in the J Crew summer collection, this Boy Shirt being one of them.

While it's definitely cute, seahorses might not be the pattern of choice for years to come. Let's just say it's not quite as classic as gingham, so $88 is a bit much for a "trendy" piece.

Leave it to Target to offer a similar style at a fraction of the price. This Merona Lawn Shirt is only $23, and I actually think it is cuter. The print is smaller and not quite as distracting. I like it so much, I already bought one.

Here's a quick shot of the shirt with some Merona shorts I also purchased!

Make sure to look out for future "What I Wore" posts to see how I style my new seahorse shirt!

The Perfect Trifecta

Last week after our return from Europe I had to make a quick stop at Target for a few household items. As always, I couldn't help but take a quick stop in the women's section. It's still winter, and sandals are at least 3-4 months away here in Portland, but I couldn't resist these fantastic merona wedges. I picked them up in khaki. They also come in turquoise, yellow and solid black! They are comfortable, cute and affordable, the perfect trifecta!

Stay tuned come June or July to see how I wear them! I wish I was headed somewhere warm before then!

Check back later today for the winner of the PYSIS Giveaway!

Boots, Boots, Boots

Last week I had some time to kill, so I popped into Target to pick up a few things. Every Target trip requires at least a small amount of unnecessary browsing....

When I strolled by the shoe section these cute little Merona rain boots just jumped off the shelf at me (luckily they didn't jump into my cart).

They only reach about mid-calf level, which is a nice change from a below the knee rain boot.

And for only $34.99 they are not only chic but affordable! You can also purchase them online (here). Here are a few of the other cute styles they currently offer online.

Merona Zelene Rainboot - Berry $32.99

Merona Zelma Rain Boot $34.99

Merona Zakia Houndstooth Rain Boots $24.99

I know this is one of many rain boot posts, but what do you expect, I live in Portland?

Bullseye Boutique Beauties

Yesterday I blogged about the fantastic Merona Eireen Wedge I bought at Target (a.k.a Bullseye Boutique). While I was there,  I saw a lot of really fun summer shoes at great prices. Here are just a few of the pairs I could have added to my shopping cart.

This cute wedge was also $24.99 and would be perfect for my Mexico vacations. Unfortunately they don't seem to be available online as I looked and couldn't find them.

The Merona Mali loafer comes in a number of patterns and colors and is only $19.99. The pink and turquoise were my favorite.

The Merona Makaila boat shoe is a budget friendly alternative to Sperry Topsiders. They come in both gold and navy and are on clearance online for only $21.24.

I thought of my friend Amy L when I saw these fun rain booties, as she has a similar pair. I'm not quite ready to think about rain boots yet, as summer has just begun in Portland, but come fall I would definitely wear theses. They would be perfect for coming and going from the Barre3 studio.

Merona Zlota Rain Bootie $29.99

Lastly, I saw these adorable sandals on blogger Sarah of Workday.Weekend. Unfortunately they didn't have them in my local Target, and they are not available online, so if anyone can track down this sandal in an 8.5, let me know!
