What I Wore: A Little Leather Goes a Long Way

One of this season's biggest trends is leather. And I'm definitely embracing it - both real and faux. Let's start with the faux since you know we love a good splurge vs. save at Cardigans & Couture.

ASOS Body-Concious Dress with Leather Look Panels and Short Sleeves

I'm a huge ASOS fan. With free shipping and returns, I usually order several pieces, knowing that I'm going to send many of them back. There was no way this dress was getting returned. I ordered one size up since it's really fitted, and I love it. The faux leather feels and looks much more luxurious than the price.

While faux is good, sometimes you need the real thing. And when it comes to leather, it's definitely worth the investment if you know it can stand the test of time. Which leads me to this.

Trina Turk Alfred Jacket

Thank you Trina Turk for making the perfect blazer with buttery leather sleeves. Whether for work with a skirt or dress, or on the weekends with jeans, this jacket is a wardrobe staple. I also picked up the Mandahl Dress (now on sale) which is the perfect sheath dress to pair with my new jacket (excuse the bad photo).

Are you bringing leather into your wardrobe this season? Here are a few ASOS and Trina Turk pieces I'd recommend if it's on the table.

On a Dress Hunt

Earlier this week Katie shared photos of her "Easter Dress" from Asos. Last year I got this fantastic navy and white striped dress from Asos (which I blogged about here).

Katie's post prompted me to visit ASOS, as I am on a dress hunt. Here are a few dresses I found, all for under $100.

I especially love the triangle shift dress. I am going to keep my eye on it and hope ASOS has a sale soon!

The Color Orange

Orange is not a color I wear very often. In fact, I can only think of one thing in my closet that is orange. When perusing the ASOS website, I came upon a fantastic selection of dresses in various shades of orange. Here are a few of my favorites.

ASOS for the Win, Yet Again

I saw this dress on liketoknowit last week and was excited, but not surprised, to see it was ASOS and only $73! ASOS has the best dresses!

When searching on the ASOS website for a shift dress, these other ones also popped up.

A little ASOS

I was browsing Pinterest and stumbled upon a darling dress that could work for a wedding shower in February...after clicking over to the ASOS to check it out, I found out not only does it come in cream, but also blue and sangria. Bonus! While I'm not sure if this dress is "the one," I thought it was worth a share. I love the zipper detail on the back and sleeves. Which color is your favorite?

ASOS Pique Fit and Flare Dress with Bow Back Detail - $90.90
ASOS regularly has great stuff at very reasonable prices. If you haven't done some exploring, I highly recommend some good old fashioned internet surfing.

Currently Coveting

What's new on your wish list this week? Here are some of the things I am currently coveting!

I  DIE for this wedge! The colors, the height...love it all!
Stuart Weitzman Encore Wedge (on sale for $229)

This dress is super cute and very affordable! Love Asos!

ASOS Denim Dress with Chevron Panel $66.28

I want this in my closet now! It would be the perfect accessory with white jeans!
Ikat You Cat Scarf $14.99

I had a pair of banana republic driving moccasins that looked nearly identical. I LOVED them, but they were past their prime and were retired years ago. These would be the perfect replacement!

I love the color combo of this dress! Another great buy from Asos!

Reporting Back - ASOS Addiction

I promised I'd report back on my 5-dress ASOS spending spree. The winner? The dress I thought I was taking the biggest gamble on - the wiggle dress in border wallpaper print. The fit isn't perfect, I might have it taken in in the waist (I'm holding it in this picture), but I'm kind of obsessed. The length and pattern are right up my alley.

So much so, that I ordered this one too. Now I just need to track down the belt they styled it with.

ASOS, I'm kind of your new biggest fan.

What I Wore: Maternity Update

About 10 days ago this little baby turned from an awkward spare tire to a full on bump...project camouflage has become embrace basketball. So yesterday with abnormally warm temps in D.C. I broke out a dress I bought at ASOS months ago. You know we're big fans of ASOS here at C & C...and so far my two favorite maternity dresses have come from there. This is going to get some heavy use in the next 12 weeks before baby McB arrives.

Unfortunately I bought it so long ago it is sold out, but here are a few other floral ASOS options that are pretty darn cute.

Bonded Skater Dress

Wiggle Dress

Midi Dress

And for those that aren't pregnant, please shop some of the non-maternity options for me - and have a glass of wine or two as well while you're at it.

Dress me Up

I've been on a hunt for a new dress. Remember this one I posted a few weeks ago? I never ordered it.

Ivy & Blu Maggy Boutique on sale $100.99

Then I became obsessed with this dress from ASOS. I ordered it on sale for only $150.

You may have seen it worn by Blair of Atlantic Pacific in a recent post in the Green version. Of course, that color is now sold out.

Well, I got the dress, and loved it…well, I loved the idea of it. But functionally, it just wasn't the right fit. First, I couldn't wear a bra because of the open back, and my non-existent chest looked barrel-ish. Second, the dress is SUPER delicate. The sequins fall of really easily, so basically this dress is just made for standing around like the model in the picture above. Movement need not apply. Reluctantly I sent it back.

So, on to the next…my last hope before two upcoming holiday events, this dress, also from ASOS. I saw this dress on the blog Koko Likes! It has great shape, a fun print, is versatile and was on sale for only $48!

Katie ended up ordering the dress as well. Stay tuned to future posts to see if either of us kept it and how we wore it!

Reader Challenge

A friend and reader has a big trip to Las Vegas planned and she is in need of dresses for her weekend of events...including a black tie dinner and a Maroon 5 concert.

She's considering using Rent the Runway, which is always a safe bet. I told her I would look at ASOS and suggest some dresses, since it seems to be my "go-to" for event dresses.

I didn't find as many black tie dresses as I had hoped, but I did find a few dresses that she could wear at some point over her weekend!

I LOVE the back of this dress!

The lace on this dress is gorgeous!

It also comes in black

And this dress is just sweet and fun and flirty!
