What I Wore: Toying with Tartan

A Christmas season without tartan is like a fish without water. There's something so fun and festive about this Scottish fashion stalwart. When doing a little Christmas shopping online for my father-in-law, I came across this long-sleeve flannel tunic from Lands' End. One for you...one for me. I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it and thought work was an appropriate debut (since I spend most of my time there). 

They've also got it available in a full button-down if that's more your style.

What I Wore

With an abnormally warm day recently, I went sans tights one last time. I love vibrant colors...and patterns....so it makes perfect sense that this combo was a match made in work wear heaven.  

While the skirt and sweater are from J. Crew last year, you can still get your own version of this look. And these are all great basics for your fall/winter wardrobe.

What I Wore- Plaid and Primal

I came across this image on Pinterest and knew it was something I had to recreate (p.s. I DIE for those booties). I love plaid, and I love animal print, so why not mix the two together.

So here is my take on plaid and primal! I topped the look with my Woolrich Coat from Anthropologie (last Christmas). 

I layered a black blazer from Banana Republic (old) with a plaid shirt from J Crew (old), my J Brand Super Skinny Jeans (here),  Zara animal print flats (old) and finished the look with two Angela Caputi bracelets.

Old is Trendy and Affordable

I can't remember the last time I actually stepped foot in Old Navy. I prefer shopping online because the stores are poorly merchandised and messy. Anyway, I decided to check out the online shop over the weekend and was blown away at all the fashion forward items I found. Unfortunately, many of them had poor reviews when it came to the fit (i.e. the color block sweater...which I totally would have ordered).
