The Spirit of Giving

In the spirit of giving we've partnered with one of our favorite artists and jewelry designers, Irene Wood of History + Industry, for a holiday giveaway.

Between now and next Tuesday you can enter to win this GORGEOUS Layer Necklace in mauve.

To enter please leave a comment at the bottom of the blog post telling us what you are thankful for this holiday season.

Irene is also offering an extra 5% off to C&C readers for a total of %35% off. Here are a few of the things I have my eye on.

These two necklaces are fabulous and would be the perfect accessory for my winter crewneck cashmere sweater uniform!

If I had my ears pierced (I know...shocker...who doesn't have their ears pierced??), I would buy these Katsura earrings.

And lastly, have you seen her beautiful artwork? Katie has two amazing pieces in her home (see them here).

You too can have one of her beautiful paintings...

Make sure to follow Irene on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with her beautiful jewelry and artwork. The winner will be announced next Wednesday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

You're probably thinking it's Monday...ugh...another five days before the weekend rolls around. Let me shed a little sunshine onto your day. TODAY - June 22 (in case you stumble upon this post late) - one of C & C's favorites (posts here), History & Industry, is having a crazy-good sale! I wear her compliment-getting necklaces regularly. They're like fastening a piece of art around your neck.

From 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. EST the entire site will be under $50!!! Here are a few pieces I'm lusting after.

Happy Monday shopping!

What I Wore to Work: Consign Design Find

Regan wasn't the only one who scored at Consign Design during our recent trip home. I found a great dress for work and was introduced to a new brand (no pun intended) - Nue by Shani. When I pulled the dress from the rack I thought, "cute work dress," but when I put it on, I realized it had a little something special. Nue by Shani dresses have an inner layer of compression fabric - think built-in Spanx. It's crazy comfortable and slimming all at the same time! Done and done.

I paired the dress with the Irene Wood necklace I got from my favorite things party.

I have a feeling this won't be my last Nue by Shani dress (You can often find them on ideeli, Zullily and other flash sites). Here are a few currently available that you might like to add to your work wardrobe.

Colorblock Ottoman Knit Sheath
Azure Blue and Brown Colorblock
Peplum
High Neckline Knee Length

My Favorite Things: Friends, Fashion, Food

This weekend a "brain child" of mine came to fruition. I know a lot of great, smart women. But they don't necessarily know each other and I wanted to do something about it. Here's how it worked. I invited some friends to think of one person that would enjoy meeting a bunch of other cool women...then, invite that person to "My Favorite Things." But I couldn't leave it at just that. I asked each person to make/bake/buy (I don't judge) one dozen of their favorite treats to swap. And then, the pies de resistance was a History & Industry jewelry trunk show. I'll call it "Katie's Trifecta."

I love a good excuse to get out of my workout clothes on the weekend and decided a classic navy and white ensemble was perfect to show off my History & Industry necklace (note the wedding shoes).

The great thing about an afternoon sweet swap was I didn't need to do too much prep work (other than my own baking, which you'll hear about in another post). A mimosa bar (tip: freeze juice as ice cubes to keep it cold throughout the party) and some veggies and apple slices to counter the sugar were just the ticket.

The ladies loved Irene's pieces (remember my obsessions with her art and jewelry here and here) just as much as I do. I went home with the earrings and the necklace on the bottom.

And...just as I'd hoped, people enjoyed time with friends, old and new.

Irene (and MK) thanks for making the trip down from NY! You're so incredibly talented and I love that we've connected post-college. Whitties for life!

C & C fans, I highly suggest hosting your own "Favorite Things." I'm already pondering the next get together...a group barre3 class might be in order.

What I Wore

It has been a while since I've done a "What I Wore" post - but a recent purchase from Banana Republic was just the inspiration I needed. I hadn't shopped there in FOREVER....at least five years, if not more. But a cyber visit looking for something for the blog led me to this dress. It's not available online any more, but you might be able to find it in store. One of the attractive things to me about the dress, other than the green and black stripes, is that it came in tall. I've been having a really hard time lately finding dresses that are work appropriate in length

I paired it with black tights (Spanx are my favorite), new Stuart Weitzman black suede booties that I recently got at Nordstrom Rack, and an Irene Wood necklace.

Wall Candy

Last year we added our first piece of art to the living room by Irene Wood.

If you follow the blog you know not only is she a talented artist, but also makes beautiful jewelry. But today we aren't talking arm candy, it's all about the wall candy. This month, Irene is offering 50% off her artwork! This is your chance to spruce up your walls with one of her incredible pieces. If we didn't already own two, here are the ones I'd be contemplating.

C & C Around the House

If you read the blog, you know we are big fans of Irene Wood and her incredible jewelry. What you may not know is that Irene is also an artist. A fellow Whitman College graduate, I was first introduced to her artwork by Whittie and friend Kate of Kate Collins Interiors over two years ago. I immediately fell in love with her work and knew that some day I'd have one of her pieces in my home. Checking back regularly to see what she was working on, last year I came upon this piece on her website. It was love at first site. And we finally had a home to hang it in. But the 4' x 4' dimensions weren't quite right for the space (it's still for sale).

Flora's Wasteland

After a few emails back and forth, and convincing Dr. B that a painting should be a first anniversary present (paper...canvas...they're basically the same thing), we'd commissioned our own Irene Wood.

We picked it up on our first football trip to New York and it's now in our living room - the first anything to be hung on our walls since we moved in over a year ago. And I can't think of a better first in honor of our first anniversary. Now on to all the other walls.

If you want your own Irene Wood (who wouldn't) she currently has an amazing collection of paintings available for a range of prices. Here are a few of my favorites.

Where the Trees Meet the Sea

Bathed in Fog

The Silence

Grotto

What I Wore

I recently won an Irene Wood necklace on instagram! I NEVER. WIN. ANYTHING. You know we're big fans of Irene's work here at C & C, so needless to say, I was kind of excited (understatement of the century). Since I got this amazing necklace for FREE, I thought I at least owed something for it...so how about a "What I Wore" post for payback.

I paired the necklace with an Anthropologie white blazer, a white theory silk shell, a belt from Urban outfitters, a pale pink tulle skirt from H & M, and DVF suede heels. I like how the neutral palette allows the necklace to stand out.

Here are a few of my other favorite Irene Wood pieces available right now.

Purple Fields
The Sky Was Violet
Emeraldscape
Specter
Sapphirescape
Delphinium
