Black Friday Buys

Who shopped this weekend? I did! I did! And since all my shopping for others is D-O-N-E done, it only seemed right that I pick up a few things for myself. With 30% off the entire Zara site, the sale was too good to pass up. They just don't have sales that often. So here are two of the four things I bought - I can't for the life of me find the other two on the site (maybe they sold out?). If they make the cut I promise outfit posts in the future.

Let's start with my favorite piece. Yes, I know I already have this in camel, but it's such a staple in my wardrobe I decided I had probably get one in black too. You can never have too much of a good thing - especially when it comes to long vests and capes.

Hand Made Waistcoat

I'm really loving the idea of this sweater and hope it translates on my body. Why do things always look better on the models?!

And while these aren't clothes, we did find the last light fixture we need for the basement remodel. This beauty from Schoolhouse Electric will be at the top of the stairs leading down to the basement. We chose the fixture in satin nickel (this is polished).

And we chose this grey and white hand-blown glass shade to welcome you into the space.

I can't wait for it to arrive!

Is it Winter Yet?

I've got a thing for long vests. I LIVED in my two from Zara last winter (see here). And when I saw this Waistcoat with Furry Collar, I knew it was a necessary addition into the winter rotation.

Here are a few other similar options if this style isn't 100% up your alley.

What I Wore: Vest Obsessed

You may remember this vest I bought last January...It was a winter staple. I'm so glad fall is here so it can make its seasonal debut.

When you find a good thing, you stick with it, right? The perfect fitting pair of jeans - buy two or three pairs. That's kind of how I feel about long vests these days - and Zara has heeded the call. I can't decide if I love my grey one or this camel shawl collar vest, or waistcoat as they call it, more. One feels very Philip Lim, and the other Max Mara - which is code for not going wrong either way.

And on my recent trip to Paris (post here) I picked up a few things at Zara (which I'll try to share on the blog in the coming days) because it's actually cheaper there than in the states! Trust me, I did the math. One of those things was this double pocket vest. While this isn't a 10 on execution when it comes to the outfit, I'm pretty sure I can do better, and I'll definitely be trying in the coming winter months.

Who will be investing in a vest this season?
