More than Just a Boot Brand

For a number of years Sorel has been trying to show the world that they are more than just a boot brand, and that they are a fashion forward footwear brand. You may have seen my recent post about their collaboration with Chloè (post here), a smart move to show their place in the world of high fashion.

I've noticed a drastic improvement in the style of their boots and continued expansion into other footwear over the past few years, and their spring/summer collection truly shows the evolution from being just a boot brand to a footwear brand.

A friend of mine works for Sorel and introduced me to these Campsneak Slip-On Sneakers. I saw them at her house and then had to get a pair for myself.

Not only are the cute, but they are crazy comfy. As my friend said, "aren't they like walking on marshmallows?" And they are. Here's what they look like on.

I seriously might need to get a second pair.

There are so many cute shoes in Sorel's Spring/Summer collection, like the Ella Sandal, It comes in a variety of color combinations, these being my two favorites.

I'm also kind of obsessed with these sneakers.

Well done Sorel. You officially have me sold on being more than just a boot brand.

Currently Coveting

If you read last month's Back to School post, then you saw that the Mini Fashionista got some new  New Balance sneakers.

Having worked at Nike for 6 years, it was hard for me to have in her in a non-Nike, but these are just so cute, and they have velcro, and Nike doesn't offer many shoes in her size with velcro.

After watching her run around in these cool kicks the last week, I'm coveting a pair for myself.

Given how much navy and white I wear, I think these would be my first choice.

I have a birthday coming up next week, and these are definitely on my list.

Back to School

It's hard to believe that it's already August, and the school year will be starting in just a matter of weeks. The Mini doesn't go back to school until September 7th, so thankfully we still have a month of summer left.

If you follow C&C on Instagram you may have seen these New Balance sneakers that I posted over the weekend.

The Mini Fashionista can't tie her shoes yet, and last year we had far too many battles over what shoes she was going to wear, so this was the solution. Aren't they cute? We've also purchased a few other things that I thought I would share.

Her Skip Hop lunch bag has been well used the last three years, so it was time for something new.

This one is actually bigger than the Skip Hop, which will be nice as sometimes the other one was a bit packed.

She also needed a new backpack. Of course she had her sights set on something with rainbows or unicorns, but somehow her dad convinced her this was a better option (insert personal opinions of a male who never had sisters).

The Mini was actually ecstatic when we picked it up at REI. It's a perfect size for her body and will be great for school, hiking and travel.

What's on your back to school list?

Second Chance

Remember way back in April when I posted these fantastic Ashton sneakers from ShoeMint (post here)?

I know a number of readers ordered them. Well, I did, and then I made the mistake of keeping them even though they were too small. My friend Amanda was the benefactor of my bad decision as she is now the proud owner of my shoes. Lucky lady.

Well, it seems like I may have a second chance because Gap is selling a nearly identical pair for a somewhat reasonable $49.95

I'm really tempted to order the pink ones. Has anyone tried these shoes in the store? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Splurge vs. Save

Slip on kicks (a.k.a sneakers) are HOT this spring! I've had my eye on a few pairs...remember these?

Well, I never pulled the trigger, but I have since been admiring other varieties of the style. How about these, the Vince Preston (only a mere $195)

Or the woven leather for $295! Seriously $295, for a pair of slip on sneakers?

As you know, we pride ourselves on finding the hottest trends for the coolest prices (oh wait...that's Payless).

Anyway, because we love a good deal, once again, I am sharing a great find with you, the Ashton from ShoeMint! They come in 4 colors and are only $59.98.

And not to make you feel bad, but yesterday ShoeMint was running a special where they gave $40 off every purchase, so I scored these in tan for only $19.98! I know, don't hate me for not sharing this sooner! I do have a life.

Even without the discount, they are a great deal! And ShoeMint does give a discount to first time buyers, so you may have that going for you! As a side note, for those of you not familiar with ShoeMint, it is a "membership", so make sure that if you order something and you don't want to continue that you cancel your account!

Happy Shopping!
