"A side hustle is a way to make some extra cash that allows you flexibility to pursue what you're most interested in. It can also be your true passion – a chance to delve into fashion, travel or whatever it is you care about the most without quitting your day job."
I think that's a pretty accurate description. In this case, my side hustle with Beautycounter is more about the passion and less about the extra cash, but extra cash is never a bad thing. So while you already know that I have a side hustle, what you likely don't know is that I also got a side hustle to my side hustle.
Remember my post about Scout & Cellar (read it if you haven't already)? Well, in a temporary moment of insanity, I decided to become a consultant. I know! Crazy! Right? I'm not an impulsive person. My decision to join Beautycounter took years, but my decision to delve into clean-crafted wine was completely impulsive and took less than a week.
So why did I do it? First, I've been a headache sufferer for years, and wine has always been a trigger for me. I love wine, but I fear drinking it because it's not worth the risk of developing a massive migraine. When I read Sarah Shadonix's story, it really resonated with me, and I was excited about her solution to a problem that so many of us have.
Secondly, I believe in putting cleaner things both on and in my body. Scout & Cellar's mission and their wine aligns with that goal.
Lastly, I figured if I was buying wine to serve for my Beautycounter parties, I may as well serve and sell clean-crafted wine at the same time. I believe that's called cross-marketing! :)
Honestly, I lost some sleep over this decision. I couldn't help but think, "what have I gotten myself into? I know very little about wine except that I like to drink it. Am I crazy for starting two things at once? What will people think?"
It could have been really easy to let myself go down the path of negativity, but instead I've decided to focus on the positives and not stress about it.
They are a young company. They are growing like crazy. It's a low risk "investment" to join. Every risk is a learning opportunity, and I'm learning something new. I'm having fun sharing the wines with my friends, and most importantly, I'm enjoying the fact that I can drink wine without getting a headache.
If'you're interested in learning more about the wines, the wine club or about being a consultant, feel free to reach out. You can order wine on Scout & Cellar either by the bottle or become a member and receive a curated collection at your chosen frequency.
I've tried a good number of the wines, and so far this Pios Branco from Portugal is my favorite.
