Currently Coveting

I have a major shopping itch. There are so many things I am lusting after right now, despite the fact that I need NOTHING! But, as we all know "need" and "want" may as well be the same when it comes to fashion!

This dress would be perfect for my upcoming trip to Mexico!

What I Wore to Work: Hospital Gown What?

I was in need of a little wardrobe pick-me-up, so you'll be seeing an uptick of "What I Wore" posts. Starting with my favorite buy - this shirtdress from Madewell. When it arrived, Dr. B asked if I thought my "hospital gown" was work appropriate? I confirmed indeed it was.

I debuted my medical fashion Friday at work and got several compliments, validating what I already knew. This dress is going to be the perfect, versatile summer staple. I commuted in my new Miu Miu smoking shoes that I picked up on our trip to Sun Valley at Consign Design.

And switched into a pair of Stuart Weitzman wedges for the day. Add three Angela Caputi bracelets and the Danielle Nicole Eva Satchel  and I had myself an outfit.

If this is hospital gown fashion, I'm all for it. In fact, I'm wearing it tonight to see Taylor Swift in concert!

Guest Post: Making La Madre

Hi C&C readers! I have been following Katie & Regan’s blog for the past five years and am happy to have my first guest post today. I started my blog, Making La Madre, back in September as I entered my third trimester to document my experience as a ‘hesitant madre’.

I post about maternity style & adjusting to motherhood with my four month old Mo.

Today I am here to share some of my favorite maternity style finds and hopefully introduce you to some new favorites.

THE HATCH COLLECTION BATEAU DRESS Have you heard of this brand? I love the concept. Well made & stylish clothes that you can wear before, during and after pregnancy. The cuts and draping make the clothes look great on all shapes and figures. I splurged on the Bateau dress early on in my pregnancy as I was looking for some retail therapy to help me usher in this new chapter of my life and I absolutely love the dress. I have already worn it post pregnancy and it still looks great.

TOPSHOP MATERNITY JEANS I did not splurge on any ‘designer denim’ for my pregnancy. I debated doing so but in the end it was not really worth it to me. Early on I bought some jeans from TOPSHOP’s maternity line and at the roughly $70 pricetag was very satisfied with them throughout my entire pregnancy. I also loved their denim cutoffs which I wore all summer.

MADEWELL TOPS & SWEATERS You likely already are a fan of Madewell and their tomboy style. I was not a big Madewell shopper prior to my pregnancy but after a walk into their shop at five months pregnant I was surprised to learn that so many of their silhouettes not only fit but also flattered a growing belly. A couple of my favorite items were: The Oversize Button Down Shirt & Anytime dress. Both fit all the way through my pregnancy and both have been items that I continue to wear now that the baby is out.

ASOS, ESPECIALLY THE DRESSES No surprise here, as this is a post on C&C, that ASOS would be mentioned! Katie & Regan were the ones to introduce me to the online shop and I have been a fan ever since! I ordered probably 30 different items throughout my pregnancy and was always pleased when they arrived within two days and I could try them on in the comfort of my own home & return the ones that didn’t work.

COS At about six months pregnant I took a work trip to Paris and had to visit the COS, the higher end sister store to H&M. Still affordable pieces but all designed with a more sleek aesthetic. I LOVE their stuff. Most of it is a line and again, much like Madewell, very flattering for a bump. I scooped up a black jersey dress & long wool cardigan. Very simple, well made & good looking basics.

Thanks for letting me share this with your readers! Happy to answer any maternity style questions and share more in the comments below!

Collared Classic

As we start the new year, I thought it would be good to revisit a classic. Old can always be new if you see it with fresh eyes. That's kind of how I feel about button down shirts lately. I've been wearing them A LOT...at work, at play...my PJ top even looks like one! For a while I thought they were BOR-ING. But worn as a layering piece or paired with the right bottom, this timeless classic is making a comeback in my closet in 2012!

I own these two from Lands End Canvas, and you can still get them on super sale. Check it out and let me know if you want advice on sizing! I love their stuff.

The Silk Gatehouse Shirt from Madewell also comes in black and white. Since it's silk, this is the perfect piece for the office or weekends and is a great transition piece between seasons.

If you haven't checked out C. Wonder online or been lucky enough to visit one of the few stores, here's your introduction. They don't carry everything online that they do in the stores, but their things are very reasonably priced and super cute and preppy. Who doesn't need a little gingham and ruffles in their lives?

For the girly girl in us all, the Kate Spade Tiff Top is ultimate prep. Who needs a popped collar when you've got this shirt!

This Red-Striped Dolman-Sleeve Shirt from Old Navy may just have to be my first purchase for spring. The possibilities with this little beauty are endless. I'm going to dream about it tonight. Which means I'll probably have to buy it tomorrow. I can't resist stripes. Big decision, red and white or navy and white?

And last, but certainly not least, florals are the perfect way to make what is traditionally masculine, totally feminine. This Cacharel Shirt in Floral Print from Asos is perfectly paired with a bold-hued skirt, but would be equally stunning with a pair of skinny jeans.

Which one is your favorite?

Eye Catching

Sometimes you come across things that you just like. There's no rhyme or reason to it, they just strike your fancy. Today's post is a tribute to that feeling. Here are a few things that have caught my eye lately. I haven't bought any of them, although I have put a few on my Pinterst "Wish List," because obviously that means some day I'll get them (do you hear the sarcasm?). Clearly there isn't a theme to this random hodge podge of items, other that the commonality that they intrigue me in some way. The Dannijo cuff is really out of this world. Does anything float your boat?

It's Clutch

In last week's Glitter Guide they covered a story on Erin Hiemstra, the Glitter Girl behind the lifestyle blog Apartment 34, and a shopping soiree she hosted at Madewell to preview some of their fall collection.

This image immediately caught my eye as I am a sucker for animal prints and black + white. How fantastic is this calf hair telegram clutch. I am definitely adding this to my Pinterest Wish List
