Keeping it Real

I admit to being critical of other people's social media posts. I'm also quite sure people have negative thoughts about my social media posts and find them annoying.

Earlier this week, a man named Rick Hanson posted this on his facebook page.

"To the pregnant women👶 on social media📱 posting constant updates and belly pictures💚 We love seeing how excited you are to become a mommy.😘👶🏼👶🏼👶🏼👶🏼

To the women👸 📸📸📸posting "selfies", thanks for letting young girls know that it's okay to love yourself and to feel beautiful!😘💋

To the fitness lovers posting your own pictures in whatever you have on!! Good for you!! Makes me happy to see people happy for things they have accomplished with their body!! It's hard friggin work! 🙌🏼💪🏽👍🏼🏋🏼 in fact come whip me in shape 😂😂

👉To the mom posting a million pictures of her kids (2 or 4 legged)👭👬🐕🐈 it makes my heart❤ so happy to see parents👪 so proud of and loving their babies! 💚

To the married couple💑 constantly posting "sappy love posts"💋 thank you for being a reminder to the next generation that all hope isn't lost and happy marriages most definitely DO exist. 💜

👉To the business owners👑💰 who constantly post about their businesses keep going!💃 Your strong will and passion for what you do is astounding!👣👣 Even in the midst of all the negative remarks you keep on going for yourself and family! 💎😎👸🏽👸🏽👸🏽👸🏽💵💵💵

👉Let's stop being annoyed by everything and start lifting each other up!💯☝🏻"

I agree with Rick. Instead of being critics, let's all channel our inner cheerleader. Think how much more productive our world would be, and think about how much more confidence people would have in themselves.

Keeping it Real

If this post had a song, it would sound like Madonna's "Material Girl"...except the lyrics would go like this.

"For we are living in a digital world, and I'm a digital girl."

No secret, I'm a user and probably an abuser of social media: facebook, instagram and blogger. My addiction to social media is mostly because of the pictures. I love photographs. I love taking photographs, and I love looking at them. And, I like keeping up with people I don't get to see everyday.

That said, I know there are times when I need to just "step away" from the iPhone. Not every moment has to be captured and posted. Sometimes it's okay for them just to live in my memory.

After watching this video I've decided I am going to try and focus more on making memories than capturing moments. Because let's be honest, someday the technology is going to change, and the platforms we use today are going to be obsolete. That means the only memories will live on forever is in your mind and in your heart. I'd hate to miss something really good because I was trying to post it and give it a hash tag.

Fashion Conundrum

Last Friday on the C&C Facebook page I posed a very important question to our followers, grey or olive (technically the decision was between clove and army). I was set on purchasing this Addison wedge from Sole Society, but I couldn't decided which color.

Thanks to all of you who "voted". The winner was olive! So what color did I decide to buy? Olive! And here they are, even more fantastic than I could have imagined. These are going to be the perfect shoe for fall and winter. Stay tuned to see how I style them in upcoming "What I Wore" posts.

Competitive....Really Competitive

For those of you who follow C&C on Facebook, you have probably already seen/heard Katie and I beg and plead for you to "like" a photo of the Mini Fashionista so she can win a Patagonia gift certificate. I admit, our efforts are a bit over the top for a $50 gift certificate, but we are competitive...really competitive. Girl Scout cookie sales...we dominated, school magazine drive...Katie sold the most in the entire Middle School (but really we pooled our resources into one to take the title). You get the picture.
