What I Wore

If you read about my recent trip to Richmond here or here, you might have noticed there were no outfit photos. If you blog you'll understand...everyday content requires saving some of the good stuff. We can't give it all away in just one post!

If you were also reading at the end of June, you might remember my trip to San Diego and a visit to the awesome boutique Mimi & Red where I got some great finds, but, again, held out on you with one last dress. The things we do to our readers! We've got to keep you coming back somehow, right?
Well, here it is (it's likely you don't remember either post, but I appreciate you sticking with me)!

This Lani maxi dress was perfect for a car trip and the hot day! I love the colors and how summery it feels. Add some Angela Caputi bracelets, my "bank bag" as Dr. B calls it, and my FAVORITE sandals, and I was set.

I can't track this one down online, so here are a few maxis I'm currently loving that won't break the bank (mine was $46).

C & C Around the House

On Monday I told you about our field trip to Richmond. In full disclosure, it was driven by a trip to Shades of Light. I'm not sure how I came across their online store (they've got a catalog too), but once I found it, it was lamp heaven! Did I mention they have rugs too?

We've been working on decorating our living room and there was one lamp that I wanted to see in person before purchasing. So we loaded up the car Saturday morning (Dr. B is such a trooper) and headed south. And this is what we found when we got there! Lamps, lamp shades, rugs, and more! I wanted to buy a new lamp for every room in our house.

The mother of pearl table lamp that prompted the trip is now happily in our living room, along with a crown wine coaster that we picked up at Ruth & Ollie. It was just what I was looking for!

And our two family room lamps from Home Goods got an update with these burlap shades. So much better than the brown faux suede shades they came with.

And last, but not least, a little something to stand on to make us feel that much better about doing dishes. It's the little things, right?

C & C on the Move

State Capitol Building

On Saturday Dr. B and I took a field trip 2 hours south to the capital of the great state of Virginia - Richmond.

It was the perfect opportunity to get out of town and explore our own back yard. We had an incredible lunch at Can Can Brasserie in the heart of Carytown. I had a delicious chilled tomato and melon soup and nicoise salad. Dr. B had Italian sausage crepes.

We also found the CUTEST home store, Ruth & Ollie. I wish I'd taken more photos. It's a good thing I don't live in Richmond or I'd be a frequent customer.

And a true field trip isn't complete without some culture. If you live in the D.C. area and haven't been to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, it's well worth the trip - especially if it's paired with eating and shopping. There was a really cool exhibit on pop culture art, in addition to the permanent collection.

Check back later this week for the main reason we headed down south. It involves shopping, of course, and I guarantee you want to know more!
