What I Wore: Put a Bag On

The "cherry on top" of any outfit is a great handbag. You know I'm a huge fan of Danielle Nicole (check out my previous posts here) and her fashionable and affordable bags. Danielle recently hosted an event at Cusp in DC and she picked out this amazing bag for me. She knows me too well (Thank you!) The Scarlett Satchel is classic, with that little bit of something something to make it stand out. And, to top it off, there was someone on hand to monogram the bags for us. I do love a good monogram

What I Love about a great bag, is that it takes a basic outfit - in this case, a black sheath dress and black jacket (both Trina Turk) - to the next level. Perfect for day to night last week when I went right from work to a dinner event.

The gold hardware made it again the right pairing with this Hunter Dixon blouse with gold buttons.

I know I'm going to get a ton of use out of this - if it can beat out my black Adeline Satchel

Hello Hunter Dixon

In October 2010, Regan blogged about Hunter Dixon and this blouse.

I loved it then and have thought about it ever since...but at $250+, I just couldn't justify the purchase. Enter Gilt! Two weeks ago my blouse, that I've been waiting for, was on Gilt (in blue) for $90. Done and done. The ruffle, the gold buttons, the 3/4 length sleeves...perfection.

I wore it Monday as a little pick-me-up to get back into work after a week of vacation (recap to come), along with my gold leaf earrings. Nothing says I'm ready for the week like ruffles and dangle earrings.

It's the little things. Thanks Gilt.

Virginia is for Lovers

Last weekend, we ventured 2 1/2 hours south to Keswick Hall for our friends' wedding. It was the perfect weekend to cozy up and enjoy the crisp December weather. It was so nice to have a quick weekend away before all the holiday craziness sets in.

Keswick was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and coupled with the fact that I'm now pretty much listening to Christmas Carols non-stop, I'm finally feeling like Santa is on his way (Dr. B....remember that Pendleton Cape I was telling you about...now would be the time to read the blog. P.S. Check back on Friday for my "wish list").

The wedding was so much fun, from the rehearsal dinner Friday night at the Hunt Club (where I ate my weight in ribs), to the dinner and dancing on Saturday, the beautiful bride planned a flawless fete--of course I expected nothing less. I was especially excited because I finally got to break out my Hunter Dixon Ossie dress (and always fun to see Dr. B in a tux). But it was nothing compared to the STUNNING bride in Vera Wang. LOVE! And if you could only see her Louboutins.

And I'd be lying if I told you I didn't make several stops at the dessert table which had an incredible assortment of treats, including personalized truffles and french macaroons.

Congrats M & B! I hope you are having an AMAZING time in Paris and the French Alps! XOXO Katie

Designer Profile

Hunter Dixon was co-founded by Hunter Bell and Jennifer Dixon. Together they bring to life a collection full of whimsical, feminine and flirty designs. Here are three blouses from their online shop. They each cost $200+ which is a lot for a blouse. Maybe they will show up on Gilt Groupe one of these days...wishful thinking!
