2018 Met Gala

I wish I had time to go through all of the looks from this year's Met Gala, but I don't. Here's a quick summary with photos courtesy of Huffington Post.

Tonight's Met Gala marked the opening of the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” which also dictated the theme of the night’s dress code. And, I have to say...this year's "costumes" were by some of the most "on-theme" I've ever seen. Sometimes the "costume" nature of the ball goes too far for me, but this year I LOVED it. It was a show of all shows for sure!

Katy Perry is to this year's Met Gala what Claire Danes was to the 2016 Gala.

Like a virgin...or not...

Anne Hathaway is a little "Queen of Hearts" for me in this dress, but I kind of love it.

Anna Wintour is stunning in this gown. It's still chic and simple and "Anna" but enough costume to be outside of her everyday look. I LOVE this!

This dress is INCREDIBLE! Not the most on-theme of all the gowns, but a big, big winner in my book! That draping is to die for.

SJP always knows how to make an entrance...

Amal Clooney's dress is not necessarily on-theme either, but stunning none the less.

J. Lo is fierce as always. The train is longer than it appears in the photo, and I appreciate the subtlety of her "costume".

I'm not usually a Kim K fan, but I think this one is a winner.

There were so many other beautiful gowns and elaborate costumes...too many to share all of them. The NY Times had a really good photo summary (here).

Met Ball Red Carpet Recap

Last night was the annual Met Gala Costume Institute Ball, and while the Academy Awards are the true Super Bowl of fashion, the Met Gala is also a "go big or go home" kind of event. There were so many hits and misses to share, but instead I've decided to stick to a theme, black and white. (images via)

Let's start with Gisele and Tom. She is wearing Balenciaga. I think the dress is gorgeous and so is the plunging neckline. Why does she always have to look so good. Damn her!

Jessica Paré of Mad Men is in Michael Kors. I love the design and silhouette of this dress.

Hailee Steinfeld looks stunning in Prabul Gurung. The hair, the makeup...everything. I think she nailed it!

While I don't think either Victoria or David got the "go big or go home" message, they nailed the black and white. How could this couple look bad? She is wearing her own label and he is wearing Ralph Lauren Black Label.

I also love the neckline of Zoe Saldana's Michael Kors dress. The bottom half is fun and totally appropriate for the event.

And now, I have saved the BEST for last, Sarah Jessica Parker. She had what can only be called a "Carrie Bradshaw moment". If there was a belle of the ball, she was it. And, if you want to know who designed the dress....just look on the back. It's written on the bottom right. Talk about branding!

Even if you hate the dress, there is no doubt that she stole the show!

And while she didn't fall into my black and white theme, Blake Lively and her beau, Ryan Reynolds are GORGEOUS in Gucci. Girlfriend has a hot husband, a banging body and the most fabulous hair.

Met Gala Take Two

Here are Katie's picks of the good (and the bad) from the Met Ball. The commentary is all mine though. Hopefully I will serve her well.

Leslie Bibb in Zac Posen. This was Katie's favorite of the night, and I have to say, mine too. Now that is a costume gala dress!

Jenna Lyons in god knows what? Seriously? Did Ralph Lauren invite her to the RRL ranch after the event? I'm sure she flies private, so she would have plenty of time to change...

Amber Valletta in Prada

 Dianna Agron in Caroline Herrera

Katharine McPhee in Elie Saab

Amber Heard in Zac Posen

Did you notice Zac Posen dressed a lot of these leading ladies. Well done Zac!

Met Ball Magnifique!

Last night was one of the most highly anticipated fashion events of the year, the annual Met Ball! While I've been more impressed in years past, here are a few C & C favorites (Photos courtesy of New York Magazine).

The Good, The Bad, and WTF?

The MET Costume Gala is known for bringing out all of Hollywood in true Red Carpet style. There were some fabulous looking couples, Hot men (LOVE Tom Ford and Ed Westwick), and glamorous ladies. There were also poor fashion choices, and even some that left me wondering WTF?

The Good

The Bad

WTF?
