Summersalt

I recently came across Summersalt bathing suits, and I am officially obsessed.

All of the suits are $95, they offer UV+50 protection, are made from recycled materials and are super simple and chic. Shop all of their suits here. I might need one for my April trip to Mexico!

Mollusk

I went to the pool earlier this week with two other moms and their kids. Both women were wearing the cutest suits. Inquiring minds (i.e. me) had to know where they got them.

Say hello to Mollusk. Thanks MB and AB for the fabulous find. These suits are on my short list for next summer.

I love the Seea Capitola Bikini. Stripes and Polka dots....what is there not to love?

It's definitely a lot less coverage on the bottom than I am used to though. It might take a burst of confidence to wear.

The Saladita has the perfect amount of va-va-voom with the intricate back.
I love the colors on the Seea Jalama bikini. Not sure I could pull it off.

The Atoll bikini comes in a variety of patterns and colors and seems like a great basic and sporty bathing suit for swimming, paddle boarding, etc.

They also have some really cute rash guards. Of course this one is my favorite! Go figure...navy and white stripes!
Have a great weekend! It's going to be hot here in Portland and perfect weather for bathing suits! Now if only I had a pool in my backyard.

Diving into the One-Piece Deep End

Last spring I blogged about one-piece swimsuits. Other than a Speedo for lap swimming, I don't own a one-piece. It's been on my mind for a while - there are so many cute ones out there - but I just hadn't tested the waters (get it?). Until now. A friend recently posted a pic of her in this J. Crew suit on instagram.

The suit looked great on her and is super figure flattering, so I figured it might work for me too. And it did! For me, the low back is what sealed the deal. I'll definitely be rotating this in with my two-pieces this summer.

The pattern also comes in a two-piece if you're not ready to dive into the one-piece deep end.

Kaleidoscope ring halter bikini

I also ordered these two suits and they did NOTHING for me. The full back just made me look wide everywhere.

Gingham seersucker v-halter
This suit had the same back coverage issue, but also had the smallest top...and I'm not even in need of much in that area, so that says something.

Just with clothing, it's important to find what fits and flatters your body best and stick with it. And sorry friends, but it probably means you're probably going to have to kiss a lot of frogs before you get your bathing suit prince.

Cover it Up

We've talked about swimsuits this season (here and here), but you can't go to the pool or the beach in just a suit…you need a good cover up. And we've got options in a range of prices. Let's start with the splurges - a girl can dream, right?

Tory Burch Margherita Long Caftan - $450
Trina Turk Mod Maze Hooded Tunic - $144
Ted Baker New Stripe Cover Up - $131.47
Seafolly Butterfly Coast BoatHouse Wrap - $123.85
La Blanca Crochet Trim Cover-Up - $99
J. Crew Colorblock Tunic - $88
Printed Dress with Border - $49
Getaway Wrap Maxi - $39.50
H & M Beach Caftan - $34.95
Embroidered Linen-Blend Dress - $32.94
Wrap Cover Up - $29.50

Make sure to click on the wrap cover up and wrap maxi to check out how easy they'd be to put on. I might have to order one myself.

Trina Time

I've been a fan of Trina Turk for years. Her line is full of great patterns, bright colors, and signature prints. You aren't wearing TT if you want to go unnoticed. I recently picked up this multi-colored print long sleeve dress (on sale). It's great for the weekend or work, with or without tights, and heels or boots. Last week I wore it to work on a snowy day.

Add a necklace (similar) and I was ready to go.

Here are some of my favorite current Trina Turk pieces.

Flagimi Dress
Firecracker Dress
Gallery Top and Pencil Me in Skirt
Kinder Top
Sniper Top and Pistol Trouser

And you can never go wrong with her swimwear (I've often seen it at TJ Maxx).
