The Remodel Finale

And you thought the basement remodel was over...not quite. The VERY last project was a built-in for our mudroom on the main floor. The space was begging for it. Our powder room is off this space along with the only closet on the first floor. My hope is that our dining room no longer serves as a dumping ground for all of our stuff. And with the addition of our puppy and a baby in July, it will go to good use.

All of my friends with kids say a changing station on the first floor is imperative. I plan on using the bench area for that (the pillows typically go on our deck chairs and were made from the photo wall fabric from our wedding). A quick trip to The Container Store helped us outfit the open shelves. We picked up two of these bins - one for the puppy's things and the other for diapers down the road - and two clear lids. Sounds weird right, but they were the perfect size to serve as liners for our shoes (which have been getting a lot of use for puppy potty breaks).

The knobs are Restoration Hardware and Kate Collins Interiors inspired the hooks which are from Anthropologie. It's important to me to have a home that feels sophisticated, comfortable and unique all at the same time. I want my own personal style to shine through and little touches like this do just that.

With this last item off the checklist our renovation project is official D-O-N-E done. Now, we enjoy it.

Organize Life's Clutter

In January I blogged about a local Portland company started by fellow mom, Lisa Heydet (read the post here). Lisa's ZizzyBee bags are one of my favorite items to organize life's clutter, both in my home and on the road.

We use them for crayons and coloring books (perfect to take to a restaurant for dinner entertainment).

I use them for toiletries when I travel. Earlier this week I was in NYC and my ZizzyBee bag was filled with socks, underwear and bras!

And of course, they are great storage for snacks in your purse for an airplane or car trip or for running errands around town.

And because I love to share the gift of organization, ZizzyBee is offering C&C readers 20% off all purchases using the code "zizzyfall20".

And, there is no better way to end the week than with a giveaway! So, one lucky reader is going to receive their own 3 pack set of ZizzyBee bags! You have until Tuesday (24th) to enter, and we will announce the winner on Wednesday the 25th!

a Rafflecopter giveaway Happy Thursday!

Have Baby, Will Travel

In preparation for our upcoming travels, I took advantage of a promo code to order more of one of my favorite "organization" products, Bambino Toy Bags. These are awesome storage bags for all things kid related (and for adult things for that matter).

These bags are so awesome I thought I would share them with you. Here are some photos of the Mini Fashionista's things being prepped for our big trip to Europe. One bag holds crayons, stickers and coloring books. Another bag is full of new books and another DVDs and her headphones.

It will be so easy to have these in my bag ready to go when we need something new to entertain her on our long, long journey.

I'm also going to use these bags to store things like socks, underwear, etc. in my own suitcase. For any of you who are organizational freaks like me, you can get these amazing bags for %25 off through the end of the month using the promo code "25holiday".

The company is owned and run by a local Portland mom.  Who doesn't love to support small business owners, especially women? So shop, organize and travel! Shop here!
