I'm Back...Sort Of.

I'm back! Thanks to Regan for keeping up with C & C while I was busy taking care of Baby McB. The last eleven weeks have been the best three months of my life. No, seriously. I have really enjoyed being a new mom and we've had so much fun. I go back to work next week, which is going to be really hard, but I know this little one will be in good hands with our new German au pair, Michaela.

Here's a little recap of what I've been up to since we last talked...

Baby McB was born via C-section after not wanting to come out - thank you 99th percentile head. She's going to be tall like her dad and got his nice long, skinny legs.

For the first few weeks we did a lot of hanging out at home and sleeping. My mom came out to help for two weeks which was awesome. C-sections are no joke. It's amazing how much you use your abs for. And in 39 weeks mine seemed to have gone on vacation. And I'm still waiting for them to return.

Once I was ready to get out and about, we've logged some serious miles walking with our Bumbleride stroller. It belonged to the Mini Fashionista and she was nice enough to pass it on to her little cousin. The colors even match Baby McB's outfits.

When she turned seven weeks it was time to get this girl on a plane. Thank goodness for the Ergo! And I'm so glad I went with a backpack for her diaper bag (thank you Libby for that protip!). The two of us made it flying solo from D.C. to Sun Valley without ONE problem. I even watched a movie (Have you seen The Intern with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway?

Sun Valley was just as amazing as it always is. I hadn't been back in the fall for fourteen years and I loved EVERY MINUTE. It's truly one of my most favorite times of year there. The colors were changing and the weather was cool at night and warm during the day.

One of the best parts of the trip was Baby McB getting to meet her big cousin! It was love at first sight! They'll be the best of friends for the rest of their lives and I can't wait to see what this dynamic duo can achieve.

Some very close family friends also hosted a "Sip and See" which was also so special. It's so much better than a baby shower because people actually get to meet the baby! Stay tuned for a post later this week on my shirt.

And while we were on the left coast we did a quick weekend pop over to Walla Walla, Washington where I went to college for my 15 year reunion. It was so fun to do some wine tasting and catch up with my besties and their +1s. If you like wine and haven't been to "the place so nice they named it twice," I'd highly recommend a visit!

But like all things, the fun had to come to an end. We made another successful airplane trip back across the country.

And now I'm soaking up every last minute with this little one. I could stare at her for hours.

Balancing work, a baby and life is 100% new to me, so I'll try to be back on the blog as much as I can. At some point I'm going to put together my must-haves for the hospital and what baby products I've really liked so far. Stay tuned...
