C & C on the Move: It Happened in Sun Valley

For the first time in over 20 years, we spent Christmas at home. Despite a major lack of snow, it was just the white Christmas I was hoping for. Here are five things you don't want to miss over the holidays in Sun Valley, Idaho.

#5 - The tree lighting the week of Christmas at the resort is a chilly fun time to get in the holiday spirit and catch up with old friends. SV really does it right with free hot chocolate, cider, and cookies and ice sculptures that look like beautiful pieces of glass artwork. And, of course, it's the perfect opportunity to break out your favorite cold weather gear.

#4 - There's nothing like spending time with family and friends. Regan and I enjoyed breakfast at our favorite spot, The Kneadery (later in the week Regan saw Ed Burns and Tom Hanks lunching there...no big deal), with two of our oldest friends - we go all the way back to pre-school.

And on Christmas Day, the fam bundled up for a "sleigh" ride (without the snow, it was a wagon) to Trail Creek Cabin for dinner. 

#3 Snowshoeing is one of my favorite winter activities. Not only is it a chance to get outside and take in the beautiful views, but it's a great workout - which I needed after all the eating! We headed North to Billy's Bridge twice. 

#2 - Sun Valley is known for its Christmas Eve celebrations at the Sun Valley Lodge. We took in the fireworks and torchlight parade down Dollar Mountain, then headed home for our traditional Wilson family Christmas Eve chili, cornbread, and angel food cake. 

 

#1 - And, the numero uno thing to do, obviously, is ski! Dr. B and I cruised Baldy (thank the lord for man made snow!)...

while Regan got in some crazy miles on nordic skis training for the upcoming Boulder Mountain Tour later this month. Even the mini got in some ski-time (both nordic and alpine!). 

We hope you all had as much fun on your Christmas vacations as we did! We feel so lucky to be from a place where there's so much to do right in our back yard.
