Grammy Dos and Don'ts

We love Award Show season here at Cardigans and Couture. This year's Grammy Awards had an added element of anticipation with an attendee "wardrobe advisory" from CBS. It read, "Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic." I'm not sure everyone got the memo, but what did you expect?

Here are the winners from the night in my book. If I was giving a first place, it would probably go to Rihanna in Alaia. While she didn't necessarily follow the "dress code," the dress looks incredible on her - and I love the red lip.

Other favorites include Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra (another violator of the dress code), Guiliana Rancic in Carlos Miele (the picture doesn't do it justice), Taylor Swift in J. Mendel, and Natasha Bedingfield in Emerson.

And to the misses. Adele clearly didn't read the memo not to wear bad upholstery from the 70s. I'd think about "setting fire" to that dress if I were her.

I love Katy Perry. And while her body looks pretty amazing in this Gucci dress, she has normal colored hair, and the detail in the neckline is amazing - it's too much boob for my taste. I don't see anything but the girls.

Florence Welch, the costume shop from the Wizard of Oz called, the Emerald City wants its dress back.

Kimbra, who are you and why did you steal Oksana Baiul's skating outfit?

And last, but not least, are those striped water wings? Lisa D'amato you and I need to connect so I can get some of these for my niece the little fashionista. I think she twirls that parachute at Tiny Tots - so I don't need the info on that, thanks.

Who were your favorites from the night?

  1. LOVED TSwift's dress - and those don'ts are all completely heinous.
