The City by the Bay

Between five days in New York City for work and a six-day vacation to California, I've been MIA. But I'm back! After three nights in San Francisco and two in the Napa Valley (with the most incredible weather ever), I'm ready to pack up and move back West! If you've never been, GO! Now! Book your tickets! Here are some highlights from San Francisco. I'll get to Napa in another post.

One of the best things about San Francisco was the food. We didn't have a bad meal, or cup of coffee for that matter.

Blackberry cabernet and double espresso Ciao Bella gelato
Salad and green juice from Jane on Fillmore
Grilled cheese from Cowgirl Creamery
Blue Bottle coffee
If you make one stop for food, go to the Ferry Building. It's a category killer - from coffee and gelato to fresh fish and wine. On Saturdays outside is the biggest farmer's market I've ever seen. We met my old friend Piper there for breakfast.

We had a terrific dinner with our hosts and another old friend at Terzo and also dined at North Beach Restaurant, an old-school Tuscan-style Italian restaurant which opened in San Francisco in 1970 -  just seven years after Alcatraz Prison closed - another stop on our trip.

We did a ton of walking and hiking - at least 25 miles over the course of three days. From Ocean Beach and the Presidio to the Marin Headlands and Golden Gate Park, we saw all the beautiful things and places the city by the bay has to offer.

A & B, thanks for a lovely visit. We adore your city!
